February: 26: Dairyland Reservoir Fishing Contest.
The Ladysmith Lions Club will be holding its first Annual Ice Fishing Tournament on Dairyland Reservoir on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012. Net profits from this contest will be divided among local food pantries, lake habitat projects, and Lions Club programs.
Many prizes, totaling $2,400, will be awarded in five fish categories, with the grand prize winner receiving $1,000!
The grand prize winning fish category will be selected at the end of the contest by spinning a wheel at the contest headquarters. Many area businesses have donated to the event by providing products and services that total thousands of dollars. The Lions Club will be serving food, and there will be warming areas on the ice. Additional raffles will be held throughout the day.
Young and old are welcome to join in the fun. Children under the age of 16 will receive a complimentary jigging pole and reel with the purchase of a ticket, but they must be present that day to receive it.
Tickets are being sold in advance. You do not need to be present to win the door prizes; however, one ticket per line is needed to enter the fishing contest. The top three grand door prizes are: first prize, Pellet Stove with a ton of pellets; second prize, $1,000 cash; and third prize, gas-powered ice auger. A total of 102 door prizes will be drawn.
